I made this piece in my junior year at RISD. I was able to take a nonmajor textiles course, which was all about repeats and designing for prints. It was a lot of fun! I’m starting to wonder what it means to take an illustration and repeat it, and what you can show subtly. The above image was an exploration of that. It’s like a comic strip, but it’s also like funky cause it’s a stagnant figure. The figure never changes; just the facial expression. There’s something so peculiar about that, but sometimes, it really is just the emotion that colors the moment differently.
